Cartier Discovers New Gold Potential on Cadillac Extension Project

Val-d’Or, Quebec, October 6th, 2011 – Cartier Resources Inc. (TSX-V: ECR) (“Cartier”) announces that it has received results from its reconnaissance till sampling program conducted over the eastern portion of the Cadillac Extension project located 115 kilometers east of Val-d’Or in the province of Quebec. The recent survey covered an area of 15 kilometers by 15 kilometers east of the Langlade deposit (refer to most recent press release dated September 28th) and returned gold in till anomalies grading up to 4.26 g/t Au. Two target areas have been identified and the company has applied for the expansion of the project area.

Cartier chose till sampling in order to accelerate identification of prospective areas over this large portion of the project.  The 2011 program consisted of 108 samples over an area covering geological and structural targets and numerous geophysical conductors. The target area is situated up the established glacial dispersal direction of the area north of a till sample that had returned 13.6 g/t Au in the 2010 program.  Contouring of the recent survey results show two distinct areas trending east-northeast.

The first area is a well-defined tight cluster (2 kilometers by 500 meters) of ten gold in till anomalies surrounding the 2010, 13.6 g/t Au in till discovery.  The head of this trend is marked by a 1.5 kilometer EM conductor oblique to the gold in till trend.  The second area is characterized by a broad (6 kilometers by 4 kilometers) trend situated south of a string of EM conductors.

Two new blocks of map designated claims have been applied for immediately adjacent to the property’s northern and eastern boundary in order to cover prospective extensions of these new discoveries.  To date, Cartier has taken over 260 till samples that cover the project area.  Interpretation of the various metal pathfinder anomalies is underway to identify additional targets.

“These recent gold in till results, proximal to known and well defined geophysical anomalies, provide better defined targets for potential new gold mineralization over this portion of the project” commented Philippe Cloutier, President and CEO of Cartier, adding, “these results add to the recent success at Langlade and increase the overall potential of the project”.
